The National Chairman of the Ghana Catholic Youth Organisation (C.Y.O), Senior Crusader Gabriel M. Nartey has urged the Youth to take advantage of the central government’s poverty eradication and youth empowerment Initiative dubbed “YouStart”.
According to him, the involvement in the initiative will better the lives Economically of the Youth and said beneficiaries, especially members of the C.Y.O should be guided by their laws of being honest to eschew corruption in the Country.
This was contained in a statement signed by Senior Crusader Gabriel M. Nartey at the end of the 59th National Management Council meeting held at Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region.
YouStart is a vehicle through which Government intends to provide funding and technical support to youth and youth-led businesses that fall within this category to assist them to start, build and grow their businesses.
The youth entrepreneurship and start-up grants are expected to culminate in job creation, job sustainability, business innovation, and growth for enterprises owned by the youth in the country, leading to the reduction of social vices due mainly to unemployment amongst the youth.
GEA will provide training to 50,000 youth and deploy financial support to 5,000 selected youth who successfully undergo training up to the intermediate level.
The following category of youth will be targeted:
Between the ages of 18 to 40 years, a Minimum of Basic Education Certificate Examination, Willingness to start a business, School dropouts already in a business would be considered; Special attention would be given to women and Persons with Disabilities (PWD).
Senior Crusader Gabriel M. Nartey called on the church authority to continue to dialogue with the government and all stakeholders to reduce the socio-culture vices and Economic hardship in the Country.
