Population in Eastern Region has jumped from 2,633,154 in 2010 to 3,317,403 in 2021, according to the Population and Housing Census statistics.
The population growth during the period is 1.00% against the Regional Coordinating Council’s projection of 2.1%.
Addressing the media at Accra, Eastern Regional Minister, Honourable Seth Kwame Acheampong said the Rural population in 2021 stands at 48.6% and the Urban population is 51.5% of the total population figure.
He said the female population in the Region is 49.1% and the Male population is 50.9% respectively.
Honorable Seth Kwame Acheampong said the growth rate is not encouraging so the Ghana Statistical Service need to relook at its enumeration, adding, then he had already Communicated to them challenging the numbers.
Eastern Region is the second largest region with more Assemblies and there are 15 Municipal and 18 District Assemblies as well as 11 Paramountcies in a land area of 19,323 square kilometers.
