FANPA, a development-oriented group at Begoro in the Fanteakwa north district of the Eastern region are complaining bitterly about the poor state of town roads in the district capital.
According to the aggrieved members, the neglect of the town roads has negatively affected the economic livelihood of the people in and around the Begoro township.
The roads which have all been stalled due to reasons unknown to residents have seen the road completely cut off people from plying one area to the other with a vehicle as sand and stones used by contractors have taken over the stretch of the already bad roads.
Madam Faustina Yeboah, the Chairperson of FANPA in an exclusive interview with the reporter complained the situation is gradually becoming a threat to the lives of residents as the movement of people and goods remains a challenge.
She also stated, “The roads have been abandoned a long time ago without any reasons known to us. And the most annoying thing is that the sand and stones left on the stretch have created uneasy for residents”.
On the issue of the quality of education in the district, Madam Faustina Yeboah complained that Fanteakwa north emerged in the 32nd position out of the 33 districts within the region.
She revealed that the performance of the Senior High School has also dropped due to many factors that need urgent intervention from all stakeholders.
She, however, challenged parents and guardians to take the education of their children seriously and ensure they learn hard to achieve their dream and in turn support the development of Begoro and the district at large.
“We are also using this medium to thank President Akufo-Addo for the construction of the Osiem-Begoro road which used to be a great burden for road users” she added.
