The Germany Development Corporation in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations is taking steps to make illegal migration especially among the youth unattractive by creating local jobs for them.
Irregular migration system has been a serious canker to Ghanaian youths especially in the Bono and Ahafo Region areas where many youths travel through the deserts to seek for jobs in Europe and the Arab Springs but end up being maltreated, jailed or even killed.
Speaking with the media during a campaign float organised in Techiman under the theme, “Our Youth, Our Jobs, Our Future”, he emphasised on the need to create awareness on the dangers of irregular migration, Madam Alice Claridge, the Project Manager for German Development Corporation in charge of Bono East, Bono and Ahafo Regions, said GIZ through this project is giving over 9000 Ghanaian youth entrepreneurship training and financial support to help reduce unemployment.
However, Mr. Charles Baah, the Bono East Regional Labour officer on his part advised the youth who dream to travel abroad do so through legal means with work guarantee or rather stay home and seek for decent work with the assistance of his outfit.
