Ghana’s President, H.E Akufo-Addo has stated emphatically that he knows the hardship Ghanaians are going through each day.
The President asserted that he is in charge of the nation from within, not from without. He is so informed of everything that occurs in the nation.
As part of his Ashanti Regional tour, President Akufo-Addo stated his administration is assiduously trying to improve a lot of Ghanaians on OTEC FM, situated in Kumasi.
He mentioned the government’s talks with the IMF as one of the strategies for getting the crisis under control.
“I know times are hard for Ghanaians. The data comes to me. So I’m very much aware. I know things are hard for Ghanaians. But two things I can say is that we have a plan and programme to help us resolve this.
“That is why we are in negotiations with the IMF. It’s part and parcel of a larger programme of development we want to embark upon to solve the current hardship in the country.
“So it is not like the government is not doing anything about it,” the President said.
He has reassured Ghanaians that his government is committed to making sure they are protected in the meantime.
“We are working hard to try and find a solution to these problems because we know Ghanaians are suffering.”
The President previously stated that he does not feel intimidated by calls for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to lose power in the 2024 election.
He claimed that he is not scared by these threats.
“No problem. I am saying people make those kinds of threats; me they don’t frighten me.”
He claims that even while he is aware that the people may support a party because they have expectations, he does not believe it is necessary to threaten the government if it does not fulfil those expectations.
“If you decide to vote for the NDC in the general election, it is your choice and that is not my problem. No one will force you to vote for someone,” he stated.
