Stakeholders comprising of Heads of Agric Department in the nine(9) districts of the western North Region, farmers among others in the Agriculture value chain have held a day Regional Joint Sector Review 2022 on Planting for Food And Jobs Project.
Western North Regional Director of Agric, Mr Henry William Fordjour in an interview said, normally, what the Agric Department does was policy direction, planning and implementation of activities.
In that case, they sometimes called on stakeholders meeting on how to strategise things.
He added there is a need for the Planting For Food And Jobs Project in the western North Region since it was created in 2019, What they have successfully achieved, challenges and how to solve them.
Mr Fordjour indicated that COVID-19 and Russia and Ukraine wars have affected fertilizer distribution to farmers but they are looking for another alternative to help the farmers to improve their yield.
Mr William Henry Fordjour further revealed that the key challenge affecting the farmers was the increment of improved seeds and fertilizers.
He also urged farmers not to rely solely on inorganic fertilizers but also use organic fertilizers to improve their inputs and also always apply the teachings of Agric Extension Officers to their farming activities.
Some participants farmers also expressed their views on how initially they were benefiting the Planting For Food And Jobs that encourage the youth to involved in farming as compared to now.
