The former President will on Thursday, October 27, address the country on the current economic climate.
Joyce Bawa Mogtari, a former presidential adviser, revealed this in a tweet on Monday.
The tweet claims that Mr Mahama’s speech will also offer some remedies to the current economic crisis.
According to Bloomberg research, the Ghana Cedi is currently doing the lowest against the dollar globally.
The local currency lost more ground on Friday morning, trading at 14.70 to the dollar, according to quotes from the foreign exchange bureaus.
Importers who rely on the dollar for trade are suffering from the local currency’s wild slide.
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have already raised the cost of petroleum products at the pump, with a litre of gasoline now costing GHC13.10 (up from GHC11.10), or almost 16% more.
On the other side, the cost of diesel per litre has increased dramatically, from GH13.90 to roughly GH15.99. This is a 12% increase.
