The UN refugee agency says that destruction from flooding has displaced more than 3.4 million people in the west and central Africa.
According to a UNHCR report released today, Nigeria has been the most severely affected, with hundreds of deaths and 1.3 million displaced by the floods.
The agency noted that the government in Chad, where floodwaters have affected more than 1 million people, has declared a state of emergency.
Floods also have killed hundreds of people and displaced thousands in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
