The Ministry engaged officials of Rand Refinery from South Africa yesterday, October 31, 2022. Rand Refinery is the largest integrated single-site precious metals refining and smelting complex in the world established in 1920.
The meeting was at the invitation of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to forge a strategic relationship with Rand Refinery, a London Bullion Marketing Association (LBMA) certified Refinery and one of the few referees for LBMA certification to coach some Refineries in Ghana to acquire LBMA Certification.
The quest to get some local refineries to acquire the certification forms part of the government’s grand agenda of adding value to Minerals mined in Ghana.
The Rand team paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and the Vice President of the Republic, H. E. Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He later chaired a Stakeholder engagement session comprising officials from the Minerals Commission, PMMC, Bank of Ghana and Ministry of Finance.
