The Eastern Regional Youth and Women’s Organizer election of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, has been slated for Friday, November 11, 2022.
The election will come off at the
Roman Catholic Parish Hall in Akyem Oda, according to an internal memo signed by the secretary to the Election committee Ali Akyena.
With few days to the election, stakes are rising between the candidates as well as other interest groups.
The Regional Youth Organizer position is being contested by Richard Etornam Nyarko, incumbent Deputy Regional Youth Organizer and Okai Mintah, incumbent Regional Youth Organizer.
The women’s organizer position is also being contested by Shirley Naana Osei Ampem, the incumbent and Evelyn Korang, a former women’s organizer defeated by the incumbent in 2018.
The keenly contested election will precede the main regional election a week later.
In total,49 candidates are contesting various positions.
The Regional Chairmanship election is keenly being contested by Mark Oliver Kevor, a former Regional Secretary and Parliamentary aspirant, former Regional chairman, Bismark Tawiah Boateng, and Basil Ahiable, Mr William Atamudzi, incumbent Regional Vice chairman
and Incumbent Chairman John Owusu Amankrah [Jowak).
