Firefighters from the Mpraeso Fire Station received a distress call at 16:36hrs reporting an accident on the Tafo-kotoso stretch in the Kwahu South Municipality.
Upon arrival at the accident scene, the team saw a DAF fuel tanker with registration no. GT 5956-10 had crashed into a tree.
The crew quickly sized up the situation and safeguarded the fuel tanker from any possible source of ignition and siphoning off the fuel by members of the community.
The Firemen supervised the successful transfer of the 13,500 litres of fuel into another tanker.
The two occupants of the vehicle being the driver and his mate escaped unhurt.
