The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has advised university graduates to take good advantage of the YouStart program to help battle the unemployment rate in the country.
According to him, the YouStart initiative is part of government’s effort to address the high youth unemployment rate and provide technical support to the youth in Ghana.
Dr Osei Adutwum indicated that government intends to provide funding and technical support to youth to start, build and grow their own businesses through the YouStart program.
Speaking at the All Nations University’s 20th anniversary and Graduation ceremony, the minister urged the graduates to avail themselves for the many opportunities available at the Ministry of Education.
The theme for the anniversary was ‘‘20 Years of Quality and Innovative Higher Education in Ghana.’’
‘‘Last year I was able to come out with a program that allowed Virtual Art, Business and General Arts to pursue engineering in the universities. That it is a moment for engineering students to come out with a new mind and do something to help the country to solve its problems as the government is introducing engineering programs in the universities for the senior high students to enroll” he stated.
Dr. Osei Adutwum however, charged graduates to change their perceptions and search for job opportunities to enable them to set up their own businesses, adding that government has created financial support to young business start-ups.
He revealed the Ministry of Education has grant programs including TVET and YouStart with free money to support the youth to build an entrepreneurial nation and reduce unemployment rate in Ghana.
