Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has announced that he will prevail in the battle to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general election.
The outspoken lawmaker declared that he was certain that party delegates would give him the authority to “break the 8” for the governing party.
The former businessman turned politician expressed optimism for the party and Ghana while speaking to shopkeepers in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
“There is hope; let us keep it alive.” I will speak with all relevant parties to determine how we can best assist you. I try to ignore politics when I visit places like these.
“However, I’ve been advised to disclose my goal for this visit.” “All I’m saying is that in 2024, I’ll head the NPP,” he stated to thunderous applause.
The KenCity Media CEO also emphasized his trading background: “Leaders have come and gone, none of them had a mother who was a trader.” My mother was a vendor at Okaishie.
“I understand your troubles and how you suffer to provide for your children, thus I am a product of the street and of trade.” So, I will go to whatever length to safeguard the interests of women,” he said emphatically.
Additionally, he promised to contact the Minister of Roadways to look into the status of vendors in connection to the type of roads and to install 200 lamps and poles at the market to increase security.
Additionally, he promised to look into the issue of MASLOC loans that had failed to reach a particular sector of the trade community. Upon entering the building, Agyapong was welcomed by hundreds of store owners.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bauwima and Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyeremanteng are expected to give Vice President Kennedy Agyapong tough competition for the position of flagbearer.
