Group President of Joy Group of Companies, Dr. Manfred Takyi, has made passionate appeal to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) through Ghana’s government to support local businesses before thinking of offering same hand to central government.
He indicated many local industries in Ghana are now struggling to survive due to the global economic crisis and therefore needs financial assistance to be able to thrive this trying moments.
“The current global economic crisis is a big blow to businessmen in Ghana as we are struggling to survive. I am therefore appealing to government to plead with the IMF to support such businesses, before even thinking of assisting the central government” Dr. Manfred Takyi disclosed this to journalists at Akyem Tafo in the Eastern region.
He emphasised the situation is alarming and may even be worse if much is not done in terms of policies and support to businesses to keep them operational.
He again added that, most people are likely to loose their jobs across the country if nothing is done to alleviate the current economic downfall the country is going through.
