Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in collaboration with the European Union (EU), ECO Care, Tropenbos Ghana, Rain forest Alliance and World Vision International have embarked on bushfire prevention campaign on the streets of Damango today to create awareness of the dangers of bushfires under the theme “End Bush Fires Now”.
The campaign which commenced with a float was marked by school Pupils and other Stakeholders holding placards with inscribed bush fire prevention messages.
The campaign was climaxed with mini durbar of Stakeholders including Traditional Authorities, NADMO, Farmers, Fire Volunteers, School Pupils and Personnel of the Service.
The Project Manager of World Vision, Mr. Joseph Yalkabo spoke on the need to safeguard the environment from bush fires while the Savannah Regional Fire Commander, ACFO I Emmanuel Ofori Adjei who chaired the durbar also assured the Stakeholders of the Service’s preparedness to intensify its fire safety education on the dangers of bush fires to get the environment preserved in the region.
