President Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that his Government would do everything possible to flush out activities of illegal mining and therefore requested for the support of the clergy.
The President also made it clear that Akonta Mining is not engaged in illegal mining as reported in the dailies some months ago.
President Akufo-Addo made the comments on Wednesday, 4th January 2023, when he attended the 28th National and 16th Biennial Congress of the National Union of Ghana Catholic Diocesan Priests Association, in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region.
Whilst thanking the Catholic Church for all it does for the growth of Mother Ghana, the President entreated the Church to continue to preach and teach about the need for solidarity, a key tenet of Catholic social teachings.
He also appealed to the Priests to encourage hard work, so their congregants understand work as a vocation and patriotism as a virtue that must be embraced in this new year and beyond so that Ghana will remain a shining star of Africa and a key player in the world stage.
