The Founder and Leader of Universal Christ Church (UCC), Most Senior Prophet Gabriel Twumasi has advised potential pastors to wait for appropriate God’s calling.
According to the Founder, christianity has suffered many negative reviews in recent times following some uncharacteristic conduct of some individuals calling themselves men of God in the country.
He explained despite most Ghanaians believing in the existence of God, many are those who have lost confidence in the church and its leaders and hence, prefer to pray on their own than to go to church.
Prophet Gabriel Twumasi attributed these phenomena to those individuals who probably are not called by God but consider the establishment of the church as means to riches and wealth and are ready to do anything to enrich themselves.
Prophet Gabriel Twumasi made the remarks during the 6th Anniversary celebration of the church in Koforidua-Agavenya in the Eastern region.
He stated clearly that church planting is not for the weak but for individuals who have been really called by God, since it comes with many obstacles including physical, spiritual and financial injection for church activities.
He passionately called on men of God, especially the young ones not to be in hurry to establish a church if they have not been called by God.
He further admonished even those who have been called to be patient, hardworking and allow to be monitored and trained whilst they work within their call.
Touching on how he started, Prophet Twumasi revealed he started with 140 members from a rented space at Partners May Hotel in Koforidua after a series of dreams and spiritual journeys.
According to him, the beginning was really tough as he was virtually doing everything from praises and worship, playing drums and then later mounting the pulpit to preach.
“Despite starting with an initially impressive number, the membership of the church suffered many fluctuations because most of the them were not regular church members and some were members of other churches, and therefore, come after they have closed from their respective churches” he stressed.
From the humble beginning of membership of 140, UCC can boast of thousands of members both across the 16 regions and the globe, where healing and financial breakthroughs among other testimonies abound in the church.
He hinted the church intends to establish branches across the regions and outside Ghana in the near future in an effort to reduce the physical, financial and spiritual problems of both members and non-members.
Prophet Twumasi continued that UCC is not only touching lives through evangelism and church planting but going to create jobs for the teeming unemployed members and Ghanaians at large through its industrialisation drive.
The church in the coming days will consider the production of iron rods, tiles, herbicides, and insecticides. There are other plans to consider going into mechanized farming.
Prophet Twumasi was grateful to his wife Mrs. Comfort Laryeh Twumasi for her continued support, and encouragement and for designing the logo of the church and other individuals who contributed directly or indirectly towards the development of the church.
