President Adama Barrow has confirmed the death of his Vice President Dr. Badara Alieu Joof.
“Fellow Gambians, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing away of my Vice President, His Excellency, Badara Alieu Joof. The sad event took place in India after a short illness. May Allah grant him Jannahtul Firdawsi,” the President disclosed on Twitter and Facebook.
Badara Alieu Joof is a Gambian politician and former civil servant, who serves as Vice President of The Gambia since 2022. He previously served as Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology from 2017 to 2022.
