Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie has blamed inconsistency in player selection for the Black Galaxies on failure at the just ended CHAN tournament in Algeria.
The Black Galaxies were booted out of the tournament in quarterfinals after a 2-0 defeat to underdogs Niger.
“We don’t follow consistency but in football, consistency plays a role. Some of the players who we used to qualify the team to Algeria were dropped, so we are not consistent”.
“We don’t have a solid program where we make sure that we follow it through that is the problem, it is not about ranking”
“Ranking can be done because we’ve seen countries ranked outside the world in top 20 coming into a major competition and excel, we see it all the time. So it’s not necessarily about the ranking”
The home-based national team are yet to the win the CHAN tournament but have been finalist twice.
