Sophia Akuffo, former chief justice, has said she appreciates the comments she has received from morally upright people since she decided to join picketing of aggrieve bondholders.
As a result, Madam Sophia Akuffo has declared that she will stay on the same course for the remainder of her retirement.
Madam Sophia Akuffo participated in a picket at the Finance Ministry with a group of seniors, denouncing the government’s DDE decision as “inhumane, utter evil, and openly disrespectful.”
The former Chief Justice has promised the nation that she will no longer watch helplessly as the wrong things happen without speaking up or doing something to stop it because the protest was successful.
Madam Sophia Akuffo also disclosed that she had participated in demonstrations to forward demands; she attended them while she was a young University student.
“Nobody can trumple on my right to conscience and to speak out. Nobody… As a student, I joined a protest, but I didn’t imagine I would join another protest as a pensioner many years later” she said on UpFront on JoyNews.
She added that she will, be using her retirement for more public good and social crusades.
“My time in retirement will be used for more social crusades… I think I like the feedback I received”.
