Nananom of the Effutu Traditional Council has revealed they are going to engage in a massive tree planting to help protect the forest in which they hunt for the Deer every year towards climaxing their annual Aboakyir Festival.
According to them, the Ramsar site(Forest) in which they hunt their Deer every year seemed to be loosing its virginity due to bush burning and cattle rearing activities as well as cutting of fire woods resulting in pushing away of the Deers.
Addressing a gathering today during the launch of the 2023 Aboakyir Festival, the Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Council Nenyi Ghartey(Vii) announced that already about 7000 trees have been planted but they going to plant more this time around to help protect and maintain the forest for future celebration.
He added that they are rather going to consider coconut trees to enable them reserve the site.
Nenyi Ghartey(Vii) has however called on all and sundry to consider joining them to celebrate this year’s Aboakyir Festival in a grand style on their land.
