There have been a lot of wailing and controversies surrounding the inability of National Identification Authority (NIA) over the non-availability of blank cards for the printing and issuance of new Ghana cards.
These concerns compelled Lord FM News Reporter, Kwame Kontor Boateng, to find out from the Western North National Identification Authority Director and to see how the inhabitants of the region, has been able to secure their Ghana cards.
Speaking in an interview with Mr. Kwame Adu Ogyadu, the Western North National Identification Authority Director, he explained that in Western North particular, almost 90% inhabitants have their Ghana cards issued.
He again added that those who have attained the age of 15 years and qualified for now, has not been able to roll unto the system due to the non-availability of blank cards for the printing and issuance of new Ghana cards, and also another community called Sefwi Sorano a suburb of Sefwi Bekwai, in the Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, has not been able to get their cards.
Mr. Kwame Adu Ogyadu, however stressed that 6,000 applicants have already registered for the cards and in return to print out their cards but because the challenges NIA is facing has become a problem to them, which they are finding it difficult to do the printing.
He also said about 23, 216 cards printed for the inhabitants have refused to come for their cards in their various offices.
He, added that GPRTU stations and some radio stations in the Western North Region have been doing announcement for misplaced cards but still the public are not going for them.
He, therefore, appealed to the general public to take care of their Ghana cards since it will be used for various activities in the near future.
