As the government has declared Monday, 6th March, 2023 as a statutory public holiday, Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor has stated Ghana has delayed in terms of development and growth since attaining independence.
To her, Ghana must move from seeking for international support and rather concentrate on self-reliance and focus on how to utilise its natural resources.
She added that Ghana has gained independence for so many years but it still rely on foreign countries for support.
Speaking to Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Bryt Fm, Akua Donkor said Ghanaian leaders must wake up and come out with innovative minds to help the country to step on the developmental path.
She indicated that Dr. Francis Kwame Nkrumah had led Gold Coast into independence from Britain since 1957 but after his demise, Ghanaian leaders could not continue with his unfulfilled aim to the country.
Akua Donkor averred that this year’s independence day anniversary marks 66 years after gaining independence but said it is up to Ghanaian politicians to come out with something different to help the growth of the country.
