The Western North Regional Office of the Audit Service has held its annual thanksgiving service at the Assemblies of God Church, at Sefwi Bekwai in the Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, with the successive progress under 2022 year under review.
The service was graced by District officers from Bibiani, Sefwi Wiawso and Enchi.
Mr. Samuel Nii Odartey Lamptey, Western North Regional Auditor on behalf of the Auditor General commended the staff for the selfless service in the year under review and urged them to count their achievements and make amends of their shortcomings and to thank God for the blessings and protection throughout the year.
Through the dedication to the service in the region, out of a target of 202 audits, we have achieved 216 which gave them a completion rate of 107%.
He, stated that, they were able to deliver by meeting their timelines and secondly beyond the target set for themselves and then also did some recoveries into the consolidated fund through some monies that were wrongly paid to persons.
He added that it is their philosophy that any cedi that government of Ghana invest in the institution, should be able to recover 3p back into the consolidated fund through wrong payments, infractions, etc and yet has achieved and regarding value for creation and benefits to the citizenry, their audits in 2022 made a total of GHc150,000.00 into the consolidated fund.
Notwithstanding, Mr. Nii Odartey Lamptey hilighted some few challenges such as human capacity, where staff needs an appreciation to up skill their audit, issues of deficiency and laptops available to staffs to discharge their duties and broken down vehicles which actually impact successful audit but thankfully, top management through the Auditor General they were able to have those vehicles repaired and new laptops were provided to argument their services.
Reverend Ackaah Boateng, Head pastor of Sefwi Bekwai Assemblies of God and Western North Regional Superintendent asked staff of the service to seek the help of God in whatever they do, and to get more wisdom to help make some achievements and meet their set goals to recover lost monies through corruption for the state.
