The Asuogyaman District Assembly commemorated the 66th Independence Day Celebration with a celebration at the Akosombo lorry park.
In attendance was the Hon. District Chief Executive, Hon Samuel Kwame Agyekum, Hon. Member of Parliament, Hon. Presiding Member, Nananom from the various Traditional councils, Hon. Assembly members, the District Security Council, Heads of Departments, Heads of Schools, Teachers and students.
The district celebration was complimented by the National celebration at Adaklu in the Volta region under the theme Our unity, Our Strength, Our purpose.
In a speech read by the Hon District Chief Executive, he remarked the importance of patriotism, which was hinged on the theme for the celebration and acknowledged the role played by our forbearers; indicating that the independence of the country was purposeful due to the Unity and strength exhibited by the Big six.
The Hon. DCE also appealed to the gathering to remain resolute, despite the economic challenges the country is experiencing and further assured that the Akufo Addo led Government was capable to fix the situation.
He however indicated that for the country to bounce back better and stronger, there was the need for a united front backed with strength in order to achieve our sense of purpose as Ghanaians.
The District march past exercise was climaxed by 26 schools, which was categorized under, kindergarten level, Primary level, Junior High school level, Senior High School and Cadet divisions from the various senior High schools.
The Hon. Member of Parliament, Hon Thomas Ampem Nyarko also made a cash donation of Ghs5,000 to madam Eyiram zakort Avoada for emerging the district best student in the 2022/2023 BECE examinations.
The Hon. MP took turn to encourage other students to emulate the achievements of the student.
Certificates were given to all participating schools.
