According to the National Deputy P.R.O for Ghana National fire service, D.O. 3 Desmond Ackah, the recent Kejetia Market fire was started by a trader who was cooking inside her shop.
In an interview with Kessben fm, he revealed that, they have found out that two things maybe the caused of the fire outbreak, that’s electrical fault and a woman cooking Ampesie at her shop with gas stove.
Eyewitnesses have also corroborated that one of the traders was cooking in her shop, and that she was cooking Yam. (Apemsie)
On March 15, the market was razed by fire, destroying several shops and vendors’ products. The Ghana National Fire Service is investigating the incident, and the market has been closed down.
He said a trader who was cooking in her shop using a gas stove that was where the fire started, close to a nearby chemical shop, where they sell gunpowder, carbide, turpentine that resulted in the explosion.
