SOS Children’s Village, a Non-Profit Organization who seeks to provide for the vulnerable and destitute children in Asiakwa of the Eastern region has supported over five thousand, eight hundred (58000) children with educational programs to enable them to pursue their tertiary and professional courses.
The village provides care for about 3,300 children in both public Basic and Senior High Schools as an effort to protect their rights and increase their chances of academic achievement.
It also aimed to ensure children participating in its programs to support equal opportunities for educational services to reach their height potential.
SOS children’s village has so far supported over 500 youth at levels of skills development and entrepreneurship.
It runs a community intervention program called Family Strengthening Program (FSP) to help provide children at risk of losing parental care and a risk of extreme poverty.
It equipped the children with good education, motivation and the strength of a stable and supportive family.
Th NGO runs both long-term family-based care and short-term family based care to enable the children to lead an independent life.
SOS children’s village received children through investigation and legal procedures from social welfare, hospitals and community membeers.
It purposely focuses on the government’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) which include quality education, decent work and economic growth, peace, justice and strong institutions, good health and wellbeing, partnership for goals and curtail poverty in the country.
Extending support for the vulnerable children and delivering better care, SOS children’s village seeks support from individuals, friends, churches, corporate organization and association to help improve the lives of the destitute.
