Reinforcement team from Eastern regional Police headquarters has been deployed to Akyem Kukurantumi to restore law and order following near deadly violence that have engulfed the town over installation of a new Queenmother.
The Chief of Akyem Kukurantumi Daasebre Boamah Darko who is also Adontenhene of Akyem Abuakwa was reportedly enstooling a Queenmother despite a dispute over the nomination.
The process which was being done in secret however got to the attention of the youth in the town and the opposition faction sparking a confused confrontation.
The irate youth have massed up in front of the palace to prevent performance of rituals for yet to be installed Queenmothers on the sacred stone (Abosombuo).
According to the youth the Kukurantumi chief has sidestepped court order on the installation and without Abusuapanyin in place in the royal family decided to impose his choice contrary to the choice of the masses as Queenmother.
The youth threatened to do everything in their power to stop the chief from proceeding that the presence of the armed police can’t stop them.
