As part of the ongoing Institutional Partnership Agreement between the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoTI) and the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) of the Federal Republic of Germany, a workshop on “Facilitating the Implementation of Science-Based Sustainable Construction Technologies” was organised at KNUST’s Technology Consultancy Centre (TCC) – UNESCO Centre of Excellence.
The workshop provided an overview of the academic, government, and business strategies for developing novel construction materials, construction chemicals, and sustainable binders for a sustainable built environment in Africa, specifically Ghana.
As Minister Responsible for Industry, Michael Okyere Baafi emphasised the importance of multi-stakeholder collaborations to drive change in the construction industry.
He again ignited the interest of the stakeholders present to contribute to the discussion on the research and development of locally sourced replacements and sustainable materials with lower production costs and prices.
