The MP for Fanteakwa South in the Eastern Region of Ghana and Ranking Member, Public Account Committee and also, Member of Lands Committee, Honorable Kofi Okyere Agyekum a.k.a Arafat, was joined by his family, a number of reverend ministers including G/A Presbytery Chairman, Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery Chairman and other District Ministers in his special thanksgiving service.
Others who also joined the MP were a number of colleague Members of Parliament, Chiefs, Queen Mothers, Islamic Leaders as well as friends from far and near to Akyem Osino in the Fanteakwa South Constituency, Grace Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Given the opportunity to express himself, Hon Kofi Okyere Agyekum said, it is beyond his comprehension as to why his Osino semi-detached ‘self-contained’ house which he has lived in over the years and still lives, a house which has just undergone complete restructuring should totally collapse destroying everything in the house but leaving him out and the bed on which he was then sleeping at the time of the disaster.
Hon Arafat said the miraclous saving hand of the Lord was manifested when he saw about six inches hole through which he squeezed himself and managed to crawl out of the collapsed building.
He said finding himself in wonderland, the only thought that ran through his mind and heart when he managed to pull himself out of the debris was that, the Lord saved him because he has not completed what he is doing in the house of the Lord and for the people of Fanteakwa South and Ghana.
Complementing the MP’s thought on why he is still alive and kicking, Rev Edward Kotei Nikoi, the Fanteakwa South, District Minister of Presbyterian Church who delivered the message of the day, stated that, indeed if Hon Kofi Okyere Agyekum had died, a whole lot of people would have been miserable and many are those who would have wailed for missing out in the good services and personal support at the hand of the MP.
He said much about Hon Agyekum’s efforts for the development of the District and above all, his support for the work of God would have suddenly stopped.
He said the confirmation of Hon Agyekum’s good relationship with others and services to humanity and work in the house of God was seen from the number of distinguished persons including Reverend Ministers and loved ones who have come from very far and near to support the MP in his thanksgiving to God.
Throwing brighter light, Rev Edward Kotei Nikoi cited God’s remembrance of Ezekiel, he said God granted Ezekiel fifteen more years to live because of hard and good work he had done in the sight of God.
In the light of that, Rev Kotei Nikoi exhorted all to do well for humanity.
He said whatever one does for humanity are acts done unto God.
He said God sees all the good works of individuals and would bring them into remembrance at the appropriate time.
Rev Kotei Nikoi said God’s remembrance of Hon Kofi Okyere Agyekum a.k.a Arafat on that day of the collapse of his building, was the blessing of deliverance from that calamity and death.
He said he believes that the Lord who delivered Arafat from death, would grant him many more years to live and to do more for mankind, for the district and in the house of God.
Special prayer was offered for God’s protection, deliverance and good health for Hon Okyere Agyekum to continue in his good services.
