Benkumhene of Suhum Opeabre Nana Awuah Asiedu destooled on 5th February, 2023 over social media insult against Nananom has been reinstated after showing remorse and pleading for clemency.
Nana Opeabre Awua Asiedu known in private life as Martin Asiedu was destooled after he was accused of making unguided comments on social media that were disrespectful and undermined the authority of Chief of Suhum Osabarima Ayeh Kofi.
The said comments were published on social media in September in 2022.
He was then told to retract his remarks, apologize to the Chief, and slaughter lambs to cleanse the stool, but he ignored the directive.
Traditional processes were invoked to dethrone the Benkumhene during the Akwasidae celebration by Osaberima Ayeh Kofi, who was upset by his behavior.
The Benkumhene was however reinstated on 27th May, 2023 after his plea for clemency was accepted by the Chief and Queenmother of Suhum Osabarima Ayeh Kofi and Nana Arko Bensua respectively and elders of the palace.
They advised the Benkumhene to be submissive and respect tradition and customs.
Speaking in an interview after his reinstatement , Opeabre Nana Awuah Asiedu regretted his action.
He thanked Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and the Chief of Suhum Osabarima Ayeh Kofi for accepting his plea and granting him the opportunity to be reinstated as the Benkumhene of Suhum traditional area.
He pledged to offer his continues support in serving the traditional area and drive development in the Suhum community.
