Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta has urged Ghanaians in the diaspora to guard against bad media reportage on the economy.
He said such reports are misleading with intention to create abstention and lack of confidence.
“..we should also guard against bad reports .So sometimes you are out here, you listen to radio, internet and you always wonder whether they are same as Joshua and Caleb who went to visit promise land with ten people. They really create a lot abstention and a lack of confidence in ourselves and therefore also a lack of faith in our Lord whom we know will take us places. So let us guard against bad reports that will devoid that we are grasshoppers, that is not it, we are a great nation”.
” So yes the Sanballats and Tobias will come and as we build the wall will tell us the walls are not strong enough and the forces can break it but that is not the situation. We are building a great country for the future” .
Ken Ofori Atta admitted Ghana has gone through challenging time in the last two years ,the approval of the IMF package which he believes came at record time was divine intervention to rescue the economy given that other countries such as Chad, Ethiopia and Zambia are still before the Fund for about three years.
“we’ve gone through really some difficult challenges in the past two years .
Last week we got a successful approval from the IMF for a package we have been looking for and we really thank God so the lord rescued us ,and it is not just because it came through but also because ahead of countries like Chad , Ethiopia and Zambia are still two, three years and are still struggling to get there So what is it that gives Ghana this favour and therefore how should we acknowledge and give Him gratitude for that .So for us what the Lord has done is marvelous to us and we should give praise to Him. So there will be difficulties but I believe God has a special place for us.We should claim it we should believe it and it will happen.so that is the land that we are in” .
He added “He brings the rescue, and I think like David ,we will recover everything that was taken from us .We will restore what has been taken for sure and there will be the revival and Ghana will come back as a strong nation. So greater things are ahead of us”
