Child prostitution is gradually gaining roots in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital as more young girls are seen engaging in the act.
Girls as young as 12 years are engaging in prostitution, a situation which is likely to burst if the needed attention is not given to the issue.
Koforidua, for sometime now has been the in the news as the insurgence of prostitution keeps increasing drastically.
The Regional capital can boast of Little Ben, Bula Spot, Total 2 and other places where these activities are harboured.
Some are also seen on streets at night trying to woe men into sexual act for money.
Information gathered also revealed that most of the ladies are Nigerians and indegenes from other African countries who fled from Accra and Kasoa after they were chased out by hardworking stakeholders in those areas.
Even though the Regional and Municipal police commands in Collaboration with the Ghana Immigration Service have done a lot to flush them out of the capital, it seems the result is yet to be felt.
Speaking to some of them revealed they are into the act to survive as either single mothers or children without parental support and guidance.
Meanwhile, the memmber of Parliament for New Juaben South Michael Okyere Baafi has hinted that the Koforidua District Police Command has arrested 50 commercial workers on Saturday in Koforidua.
