A Ministry of Energy delegation which includes its Chief Director, Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah is attending the 33rd Meeting of the States of Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea currently underway in New York, United States of America.
The meeting, among others, will seek to report and assess the activities of the main organs of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) which includes CLCS, ITLOS and ISA for the year 2022. It will also look at possible projections for the year 2023.
This year’s meeting will also witness the handing over of the outgoing commissioners of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) to the incoming commissioners.
Former Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Lawrence Apaalse is one of the new Commissioners to be inducted into office.
Ghana will use the opportunity at this meeting to further consolidate itself as a key stakeholder of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The Ministry of Energy congratulates warmly, Mr. Lawrence Apaalse for this feat.
The meeting ends on Friday, 16th June, 2023.
