The traditional authorities at Sefwi Paboase in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region have carried out a purification rituals for a 25-year old man after he admitted to sleeping with his own sister and fiancee’s junior sister at Sefwi Ntrentreso.
According to Lord FM News, the traditional leaders slapped a fine of GHc2,500 on the accused, popularly known as ‘Obise’, in addition to other items including; one live grown sheep, crates of assorted drinks, and other bottles of exotic schnapps for purification rituals.
In an interview with Nana Ehi Nkrumah, Okyeame of Sefwi Paboase on behalf of Nananom stated that, it is an abomination and frowns the traditional authorities laws which requires the accused to be banished from the area.
He said, ‘Obise’ first impregnated his own sister and later his girlfriend’s junior sister and “So traditionally, it became necessary for nananom to perform the rituals to cleanse the land”.
Some of the residents in Sefwi Ntrentreso also had the opportunity to speak to the media and described the accused of exhibiting bad behaviour and indicated the purification rituals will serve as a deterrent to others.
