Many stores in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua have been locked down due to fear and panic of the pandemic disease (covid 19) and the increasing of commodity prices.
In an interview with some shopkeepers in Koforidua township, they unveil how frightened they are to the extent that they don’t even want to come to town to buy goods to stock their shops. “Moreover people refuse to come out to buy goods”.
“As part of the safety precaution given by the president, social distance is one of it and that might be the reason why people don’t come to town to purchase. So it is better for us to also stay in our various houses,” they affirmed.
While shop owners are complaining of low purchase of goods, some costumers are accusing the same shopkeepers of taking advantages of the situation to increase the price of their commodities.
Consumers are therefore calling on the government to bring things to order though they are managing the little they have now.
