One person has died on the Bibiani-Sefwi Bekwai highway in an accident on Wednesday night.
At about 1945 hours, suspect driver who is yet to be identified was in charge of opel Astra taxi cab with registration number As-5163-W driving from Diaso towards Bibiani with four passengers on board.
According to an eyewitness, upon reaching a section of the road between Sefwi Adukrom and Sefwi Dominibo No.2, the deceased driver ran into a stationary Shacman articulated truck with registration number GX-5486-20 loaded with sand which had developed mechanical fault and was parked.
All the passengers on board of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Sefwi Anwhiaso community hospital, where suspect driver was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body has been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation and identification.
Effort is underway with the help of Kwame Gyasi, the driver in charge of the stationary articulated truck to arrange for the vehicle to be towed to a safer place for testing purposes.
