About 300 residents of Nsawam Adoagyiri municipality in Eastern region have been displaced by flood.
The devastating flood was recorded on Saturday July 22,2023 after a heavy downpour around 4:00pm causing the Bonyomma stream to overflow its banks as a result spreading into low-lying communities along the river.
Adoagyiri zongo and parts of Adoagyiri community were most affected.
According to official data,60 homes and 25 shops including provision stores, drugstores, furniture shops, hair dressing salons, cement shops, cold stores, home appliances shops were flooded.
Additionally, about 70 acres of farmlands submerged .
Officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have visited the affected communities for assessment.
However, the Nsawam Adoagyiri Office of NADMO does not have relief items to be given to the victims some of whom are now perching with friends others roaming for Temporal shelters.
Meanwhile ,the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri also Majority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh was planning to desilt the Bonyomma stream which caused the flood.
