The president of Nigeria and chair of the regional group ECOWAS has said the military coup in Niger should be resolved “diplomatically and peacefully.”
This comes after the latest diplomatic mission from the bloc to reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum in Niger failed.
President Tinubu, who had previously hinted about a potential military operation in Niger, today imposed further sanctions against the country.
The sanctions target entities and individuals involved in last month’s power takeover.
