Deputy Lands and Natural Resorces Minister, George Mireku Duker engaged the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) board at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
The meeting with the board is a follow-up engagement after his recent tour of the company towards the modernization agenda of VALCO in achieving the President’s dream of establishing an integrated Aluminium Industry in Ghana.
Assurances by the board Chairman, CEO, Hon. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover coupled with the commitment of the Ministry, are expected to yield the necessary results.
Later in the day, the deputy minister received, on behalf of the sector Minister, a delegation from the government of Burkina-Faso led by their Minister of Mines, Hon. Simon Pierre Boussim, at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
The delegation called on the Ministry to foster a relationship to initiate steps and processes to enable them understudy how Ghana is managing Artisanal Small-Scale Mining.
They are of the firm believe that they have monitored Ghana’s ASM space on the continent, and it is one of the best to learn from.
He took them through the government’s interventions in managing ASM and declared the Ministry’s steadfast resolve to support their quest in the coming days.
He further assured the delegation of Ghana’s participation in the upcoming Burkina Faso’s Mining Week as invited slated for September this year.
Other members of the delegation include Burkina Faso’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. David Kabre, Permanent Secretary of Mines, Sanou Yaannick, DG of Sonabhy, Compaore Johnny, Directors of Cabinet, Sankara Yaya and Tapsoba C. Fuanele and other officials.
