The Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling held its 2nd National Digital and Distance Learning Conference at the Labadi Beach Hotel on 14th and 15th August 2023.
The theme for the conference was Reimagining Education: a call on multi-stakeholder coordination and action for equitable access to digital and distance education in Africa.
The event which brought together educators, policymakers and experts from across the nation focused on harnessing the potential of digital and distance learning to create innovative and inclusive educational experiences.
In his keynote address, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum emphasized the importance of bridging the digital divide to ensure that all students, regardless of their socio-economic background can benefit from digital and distance learning opportunities.
He also announced the introduction of the Ghana Virtual Senior High School and launched the Ghana Learning Passport and the Minecraft education.
Throughout the conference, various experts shared insights and success stories from their experiences with digital and distance learning. Presentations covered topics such as virtual classrooms, online assessments, teacher training in digital pedagogy and effective methods for maintaining student engagement in remote settings.
We stand at a crucial juncture where technological advancements have the potential to revolutionize the way we teach and learn. It is therefore imperative that we embrace these opportunities to enhance access, quality and relevance in education.
