Very Reverend Father Charles Ahenkorah, Dean of the Asamankese Deanery in the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua has called on leaders of the Catholic Youth Organisation to organise seminars which will focus on Laws and Order for their members as part of their annual Activities.
According to him, most of the Youth lack knowledge on the Law and Constitution of the country as well as laws of the Catholic Church and other by-laws at the decentralized Administration.
Addressing 60th Annual General Meeting for the Ghana Catholic Youth Organisation Management Council at Koforidua, Very Reverend Father Charles Ahenkorah stressed on the need to feature in their activities the study sessions on the teachings of the Catholic Church, Bible Youth camp, marriage and counter seminars for the Christian Soldiers of the C.Y.O to lay good foundation for marriage.
The Dean urged leaders of the Youth Organisation to set special days for Career Week or day for the Infant Jesus and Youth Apostles of the C.Y.O and invite the Christian Soldiers who are already working in the various Professional Fields to guide them in their careers and make them role models.
Father Ahenkorah appealed to the Youth in the church to take part in missionary Activities by using social media and modern Technology positively for Evangelisation and it must be directed to culture and make human culture harmonious Christian values.
He added that street and house to house Evangelisation must also be intensified by the Youth.
Rhetorically, the Dean outlined 14 key issues affecting the church,Youth, Society and the World and asked for attention and reflection on it which includes; Ascendency of Prostitution among the Youth, Illicit marital issues, Youth involvement in illegal mining, Desire for quick money, Bribery and Corruption, Homosexuality and Negative addiction of social media.
The rest are Lack of interest in the sacrament of Reconciliation, Lack of inadequate Youth formation programms, General Indiscipline in the Society,The dwendling number of the Youth in the Parishes, Ascendency of Gambling among the Youth, Growing Interest in pornographic material and abuse of drugs.
