The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong stated that government remains committed to build a robust health system to fight pandemics.
To him, building a robust health system to manage pandemics has been a major priority of the government.
He indicated that Covid-19 has taught us useful lessons, since it affected every sector including social, economic, humanitarian, financial and security.
Mr. Kwame Acheampong said that the negative impact of the pandemic has heightened and worsened the exogenous shocks affecting the sub-region.
“In fact, the pandemic has left in its wake unprecedented levels of difficulties for us all,’’ he added.
Speaking at the awards ceremony for frontline and allied health workers during the covid-19 pandemic era in the Eastern region, Mr. Kwame Acheampong affirmed that Frontline and Allied Health Workers have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their profession during the critical times.
He continued that despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Frontline and Allied Health Workers have remained steadfast in their commitment and have consistently shown compassion and resilience in the face of adversity.
He stated that they have served as an inspiration to all of us and have demonstrated that, even in the darkest of times, there is always hope and a way forward adding that their sustained efforts have made a significant impact on the community and they deserve all the recognition and appreciation.
He said that Frontline and Allied Health Workers bravely stepped up the efforts and over stretched their limits to face the virus head-on, by putting their own health on the line to care for those in need in their various communities.
“With the continuous training and capacity building of our health care professionals as well as the support of all stakeholders, we will be able to improve, to a greater extent, the delivery of quality and accessible health care to the citizenry,’’ said Mr. Kwame Acheampong.
He explained that the implementation of Agenda 111 projects is just one of the many policy measures aimed at strengthening the health sector.
Mr. Kwame Acheampong presented awards to deserving Health workers on behalf of President Akufo-Addo for their tremendous contribution in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday, 27 September, 2023 at the residency gardens in the Eastern region.
