Residents of Koforidua Adweso SSNIT in the Eastern Regional capital found themselves stranded for over two hours due to heavy rainfall on a Saturday evening.
The downpour resulted in flooding on two major roads leading to the Adweso SSNIT residential area, rendering them impassable for vehicles and pedestrians.
The road near the Assemblies of God section, which had previously suffered damage due to a narrow bridge collapsing many months ago, was once again flooded.
Additionally, the section of the road from St. Dominic Catholic Church to Presby School, originating from the stadium direction, experienced severe flooding.
As a result, all vehicles and pedestrians were left stranded for hours until the floodwaters subsided. Many pedestrians were forced to wade through the water, often having to remove their sandals, while others had to be carried to cross.
The roads and streets in Adweso SSNIT, which is a prominent residential area in Koforidua, continue to deteriorate, with potholes worsening after each heavy downpour.
Residents are becoming increasingly frustrated, accusing city authorities of neglecting the area’s infrastructure and drainage systems.
