On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem George Mireku Duker held the rekindled edition of the #“DUKER YOUTH SUMMIT”, which is a rebranded platform to engage the youth in the constituency toward their future.
The event was attended by Hundreds of youth across Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.
Data by the Ghana Statistical Service from the 2021 housing and population census indicates a very youthful population, with over 65% captured between the ages of (0-35 years).
“This is an indication for me and my senior compatriots, to continue to tailor policies that will see to the development of the youth in the areas of job creation to consciously reduce the challenges that confront the teeming youth such as peer pressure, drug abuse, and other social vices” according to the MP.
The MP used the opportunity to reiterate his achievements in terms of health, education, sports, infrastructure, and youth development through scholarships, Apprenticeships, and job creation, such as the Community Mining Scheme in the constituency employing thousands of youth and other job facilitations across the country.
He reassured them of my unflinching support towards their development and asked them to desist from destructive tendencies that could jeopardise their future and not despise humble beginnings.
