The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) branch located in Akyem Oda, within the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, has launched the installation of prepaid meters as a replacement for post-paid meters.
In conjunction with the installation process, ECG is actively engaging and informing residents about the advantages of switching to prepaid meters.
Ing. Mrs. Sariel Etwiri, the General Manager of ECG in the Eastern Region, underlined the benefits of prepaid meters for customers in Akyem Oda.
Prepaid meters have been in operation in parts of the country for several years, and now is the time for customers to transition from post-paid to prepaid meters, which offer significant convenience.
With prepaid meters, customers can regulate and manage the amount of electricity they wish to consume for a specific duration.
Ing. Mrs. Sariel Etwiri further elucidated that with a prepaid meter, customers no longer need to wait for a monthly electricity bill or physically visit ECG offices to make payments. The entire payment process can be conveniently managed through a dedicated mobile app.
Ing. Maxwell Essel, the Akyem Oda District Manager of ECG, acknowledged that the introduction of new technology in any region comes with its own set of challenges.
He appealed to the residents of Akyem Oda to gradually become accustomed to the new prepaid meters and to cooperate with ECG personnel during the transition.
The introduction of prepaid meters in Akyem Oda is expected to empower customers with greater control over their electricity consumption and streamline payment processes. This initiative aims to enhance the convenience and efficiency of managing electricity usage for residents in the area.
