You can have certifications, and obtained academic qualifications in leadership, but leading people, organisation, instititions, teams, or even nations, is an act in itself, which you must master, if the objective is to be successful, and effectively efficient.
It is therefore important to note that, your leadership style and quality would be assessed and adjudged based on series and sequence of actions and activities of your leadership performing role, and the resultant outcomes (positive or negative).
One of the core features, functions or values of a great leader is seeking the interest of the masses, (the people you are leading, and the respective organisation, team, or nation you represent), and work hard to achieve acceptable outcomes. It is your overall progressive outcomes that determines whether you have been productive, profitable or wasteful.
In the absence of any meaningful outcome, what is left will be a fractured combination of parochialism, myopia, and personal aggravated curse, which will lead to a dreadful end.
What we have on the African continent is far below the acceptable levels, and we must work hard to catch up.
The Akosombo Dam water spillage and the subsequent flooding is man-made and men must work hard to Resolve it without further delays.
Lack of circumspection and indiscretion on the parts of those who ought-to-have known better in this particular case, somehow overlooked many of the warning signs, and took a spillage action which has created dreadful havoc to lives and property in the affected communities.
Security and public safety guarantees are core functions of national leadership and managers of sensitive organisations, and it’s critically needed to achieve coherency, efficiency, high-level coordination, and effectiveness in times of national crisis.
Frankly speaking, as Africans, we can do much better with our leadership qualities.
