Capt. (rtd) Prince Kofi Amoabeng, the founder of the now-defunct UT Bank, has stated that Ghanaians erred in choosing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to head the nation.
On November 2, 2023, Kofi Amoabeng said in a TV3 interview that although he had received backlash for stating this before, the state of affairs in the nation now supports his assertions.
He went on to say that under the Akufo-Addo administration, resources for future generations have already been wasted since things are so awful.
“If you ask me, we voted wrongly and for what is happening around, I think you can look at me in the eye and tell me that, yes, I’m telling the truth.
“Times are really hard. What the government has done this time is unbelievable. We consumed the past because people’s savings, everything went, we are consuming the present – high taxes, inflation, utilities are going up by the day – and we have consumed the future because there are debts that have been scheduled ahead of us.
“This is a desperate situation and I don’t think we have been in this situation before,” he said.
The former head of UT Bank went on to say that he is not criticizing the Akufo-Addo administration because they closed his bank, which he said was a stupid move.
He claimed that because Ghanaians are truly suffering, he would have continued to criticize the government even if his bank had been open for business.
