The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi, has stated emphatically that, President Nana Akufo-Addo’s decision to devote $100 million for the battle against coronavirus is a complete scam and Ghanaians should see it as such.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, the government couldn’t get $35 million for 100 projects but gone about assigning $100 million available for the fight against coronavirus and strongly believes the government wants to disburse and use the money for their selfish interest.
“You could not get $35 million for projects 100 but went to devote about $100 million available for the fight against coronavirus. The said amount that was supposed to be disbursed by the Finance Minister for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs), equip isolation centers, and procure hand sanitizers among others”, he disclosed.
Also, the Communications Officer went on and averred that Ghanaians were all smiles when the president made such a bold decision but quickly had straight faces when it emerged that the amount in question was not readily available for use.
“When the Finance Minister went to parliament it came out that what the President said was ‘419’, it was a lie because there was no such any amount anywhere. The government indicated it was going to borrow. It manifests the fact that President Akufo-Addo is sleeping on the job and taking the health needs of Ghanaians for granted”, he stated.
He, however, hassled that, the government should be able to raise enough money to take care of the health needs of Ghanaians as they flaunted that Ghana is beyond Aid Agenda since the government has been able to raise money for the new voter’s register.
