A lightning strike has hit one of the transformers of Electricity Company of Ghana at Koforidua – Okorase in Eastern region during this afternoon’s rainstorm.
As a result, three high-voltage (HV) fuses were tripped, and one was damaged in the process.
The affected transformer is set to undergo testing tomorrow to determine its overall health.
The damaged HV fuse will be replaced, contingent upon a positive assessment, before the resumption of power supply to the affected areas.
Notably, the areas impacted by this disruption include Okorase Police Station and its environs.
The Electricity Company of Ghana assures residents that efforts are underway to address the situation promptly and restore normal power supply.
